   Tour of Kashmir and Ladakh

A trip to Kashmir in its particular beauty that gives the country the title of "earthly paradise", with its capital Srinagar, surrounded by mountains, which rises on Dal Lake where the typical "houseboats" and small boats called "shikara" float used as a market for various products. The journey continues to the wonderful land of Ladakh nestled in the Himalayan range, with its small villages, high mountain roads, monasteries and lakes of an unforgettable blue.

Day 01: Arrive in Delhi

Upon arrival at the airport in Delhi, meeting with our staff for presentations. Later transfer to the hotel. Continue to New Delhi to the district of the government buildings which represent the largest liberal democracy in the world. Stop at India Gate. the arch erected in memory of the Indian soldiers who left their lives fighting for the British army during the First World War. Visit the Qutub Minar complex, a 73 meters high tower, engraved with verses from the Koran, built in 1193 by Qutab-ud-din Aibak, which is one of the most beautiful monuments in India. At the end visit the Sikh Temple, the most important place of worship of the Sikhs in Delhi.

Day 02: Delhi / Srinagar (by flight)

Breakfast and transfer to the airport for boarding the flight to Srinagar, the capital of Jammu & Kashmir, located at 1750 meters embraced by mountains, woods and lakes. Upon arrival at the airport in Srinagar, meeting with our staff. Transfer by Houseboat (houseboats). In the evening available for individual initiatives. Full board. Overnight in Houseboat.

Day 03: Srinagar

Breakfast and visit of the city of Srinagar (1585 masl) with its wooden mosques of Kashmir, the colorful floating market and the famous gardens of the Mughals, i.e. the Shalimar Bagh built in 1619 by the Imprerator Jahangir for his wife Nur Jahan and the Nishat Bagh which in Urdu means "garden of joy", created in 1633 by Jahangir's son-in-law. Full board. Overnight in Houseboat.

 

Day 04: Srinagar / Kargil (kms. 210 - approx 5 hrs)

Breakfast and departure for Kargil (2676 m.s.l.m.), in Ladakh, crossing mountains and woods. Stop in Sonmarg, in the Valley of Flowers so called due to the spectacular and varied flowering in the spring and summer months. Crossing the Zojila-la pass 3550 meters you arrive in the village of Kargil, on the banks of the Indus and once a caravan city. Full board. Overnight at Hotel.

 

Day 05: Kargil / Lamayuru / Ulleytokpo ( kms. 190 - approx 4 hrs)

Breakfast and departure for Ulleytokpo with a stop in Lamayuru, along the Indus valley, with a visit to the Lamayuru monastery, the oldest Gompa in Ladakh, located at 3510 meters. high, on top of an incredible valley that resembles a lunar landscape. Continue to Ulleytokpo, surrounded by mountains of over 6000 meters. Full board. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 06: Ulleytokpo / Alchi / Leh ( kms. 90 - approx 3 hrs)

Breakfast and visit of the Likir Monsater in Alchi, founded in 1065, rich in frescoes, which houses the great golden statue of Maitrya 23 meters high. Departure for Leh, with a stop at the Sikh Pathar Sahib temple and Magnetic Hill (where the cars defy gravity), Basgo Palace and the Hall of Fame (a museum in memory of the Kargil war). Full board. Overnight at Hotel.

 

Day 07: Leh (Hemis, Thiksey e Shey)

After breakfast, visit the Hemis Tibetan - Buddhist monastery located 45 km west of Leh. It already existed before the 11th century and is still revered today as the largest monastic institution in Ladakh. It is famous for its rich collection of ancient texts, the Buddha statue, the gold and silver stupa. Then, visit the Thiksey monastery, on the top of a hill, at an altitude of 3600 meters, about 11 km. from Leh and which looks so much like the Potala of Lhasa. It houses many objects of Buddhist art and the statue of Maitreya, the Buddha of the future. Then, through a series of chortens, you reach the Shey Palace, the former summer palace of the king of Ladakh. Full board. Overnight at Hotel.

 

Day 08:  Leh / Valle di Nubra ( km. 150 - approx 5 hrs)

Breakfast and transfer to the Nubra valley (average altitude 3048 meters) through the spectacular KardungLa pass at an altitude of 5602 meters, along the highest carriage road in the world. After lunch, free time to explore the villages of Deskit and Hunder and to take a walk on the sand dunes with the possibility (optional) of a camel safari. Full board. Overnight in a fixed tented camp.

Day 09: Valle di Nubra / Leh

Breakfast and visit of the Diskit monastery, on the top of the hill in front of the monastery, a large statue of Buddha 32 meters high, whose construction began in April 2006 and which was consecrated by the Dalai Lama on 25 July 2010. Visit of the monastery of Samstaling, built in the early 19th century, one of the most remote villages of the Valley, in a particularly picturesque landscape. Departure for Leh. In the evening, free time to explore the Leh market. Full board. Overnight at Hotel.

 

Day 10: Leh / Chumathang / Tso Moriri (Km. 240 - approx 6 hrs)

After breakfast, departure for Lake Tsomoriri along the Trans-Himalayan that runs along the Indus River in a fantastic high altitude landscape. Along the way stop at the typical Himalayan villages immersed in an atmosphere of the past. Arrival at Lago Tso Moriri (altitude 4400 m.) And accommodation in a simple fixed camp near the lake. Full board. Overnight in a tented camp.

 

Day 11: Tso Moriri / Taglaglha / Upshi/ Leh (Km. 150 - approx 6 hrs)

After breakfast, visit the lake. Departure to the west, along the legendary Leh-Manali road, then turn left onto the More plain and climb to the Taglanglha pass. Continue to Leh with a stop in Upshi. Full board. Overnight at Hotel.

 

Day 12: Leh / Delhi (by flight) 

Transfer to the airport. Flight to Delhi. In the afternoon, tour in Old Delhi, visit from outside the Red Fort. Visit of the Jama Masjid, one of the most impressive Indian mosques and visit of the Raj Ghat, a black marble platform that marks the place of the cremation of Mahatma Gandhi. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 13: Depart from Delhi

Breakfast and transfer to the airport for boarding the flight to Italy.
